Our Care Services
Three specialist care pathways designed entirely for people living with dementia.
Dementia-Focused Care at Every Level
Unlike homes that accept a wide range of conditions, every aspect of care at Rickeston Mill is designed, staffed and equipped specifically for dementia. Our three care pathways ensure we provide the right level of support as each resident's needs evolve.
Nursing Dementia Care
Compassionate, round-the-clock nursing support for individuals living with dementia. Personalised care plans that prioritise dignity, comfort and quality of life at every stage.
Our nursing dementia care provides 24-hour registered nursing oversight combined with dedicated healthcare support workers who understand the unique needs of people living with dementia. Every resident benefits from a personalised care plan developed in partnership with their family and regularly reviewed as needs change.
What this includes:
Individualised care plans reviewed regularly with family input
24/7 qualified nursing cover with dementia-trained healthcare support workers
Medication management, nutritional support and continence care
Liaison with GPs, community nurses and specialist consultants
Complex Dementia Cases
Specialised care for advanced symptoms and challenging behaviours. Our experienced team uses evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual's needs.
Some residents arrive at Rickeston Mill when other settings have been unable to manage the complexity of their symptoms. We welcome these individuals. Our team is trained in de-escalation techniques, behavioural analysis and therapeutic communication, enabling us to provide calm, effective support where others may struggle.
Our approach includes:
Evidence-based behavioural support and de-escalation strategies
Close monitoring and responsive, flexible care plans
Collaboration with NHS psychiatric and specialist dementia teams
A secure, calming environment that reduces agitation and promotes wellbeing
Palliative Dementia Care
Focused on comfort, symptom management and quality of life for those with advanced dementia. Compassionate end-of-life support for residents and their families.
When dementia reaches its most advanced stages, comfort and dignity become the primary goals of care. Our palliative dementia pathway is designed to ensure that each resident's final chapter is as peaceful and pain-free as possible, while supporting families through one of life's most difficult experiences.
We provide:
Pain management and symptom control with clinical nursing oversight
Emotional and practical support for families during end-of-life
Liaison with palliative care specialists and hospice teams
Private, peaceful spaces for families to spend time with their loved one
